The
main business was for the volunteers to report back on
any progress made and/or what needs to happen next in
their area. |

Emma
Shields explained that she was researching into policies
and formulas especially used in deciding speeds and
traffic calming measures as used by West Sussex but had
unfortunately at present little luck in gaining replies
to her e-mails to West Sussex. She would persevere
with different contacts which would be supplied to her
by the clerk of LPC. She recognised the need to consult
parishioners for their view and had looked at a
questionnaire used by Middleton and at the idea of a
consultation café to further her research on traffic
issues. Other issues apart from traffic speeds worth
investigation could be parking, street lighting and sign
posting needs. |

Ian
Hutton then developed further the content of a paper he
had sent members of the Steering party on the need to
consult the youth of the village from the very young
even 2 to 18 on their views on village life in Lavant
and ways to improve it from their point of view.
He explained various proposals he might adopt to collect
views and hoped that such views might be available after
a deadline 2 weeks after Easter with a further display
of the results at the village fete in June. (The clerk
would pursue the need for a stall with the fete
committee).
He
further saw the need for a sub-committee to help with
the process perhaps involving John Mulhall and Cathy
Dickens. |

The
Chairman asked John Mulhall if he might take over the
environment brief and he agreed to do this. |
|
d. |
The
clerk would retrieve from
Graham Kelly
all the research work that had gone to complete the
Village Design Statement and pass this on in the
expectation that there could be some useful evidence of
village opinion therein. |

Vicki
Brown pointed out that she was shortly to meet with Cllr.
John Slipper specifically for a look at the Lavant Play
area. At the same time no doubt she would learn of his
own ideas for improving the village. |

Faustina
Bayo raised the issue whether the problems of the
elderly and of health might also be a matter for comment
in the village plan. |
| 2. |
It
was felt too early for any draft frame because much
consultation need to be done. |
| 3. |
There
were no other issues. |
| 4. |
The
date of the next meeting was fixed at 15th April same
time same. |
